Counselling & Psychotherapy Sessions

Pre-marital Counselling

Planning to enter into marriage and the early phase of a marriage are exciting and task-filled times. For that reason, many significant aspects of the relationship may not be attended to fully. These overlooked aspects can then lead to relational difficulties that surface at a later time.

I work with couples in the early stages of their marital relationship to ensure that the relationship can grow from a place of mutual respect, trust, love and appreciation. Together they resolve relational impasses resulting from challenges such as ineffective communication, lack of or misunderstood expressions of emotional needs, and hidden beliefs and expectations about marriage.

Couples Counselling

Even in more mature stages of "couplehood", if both partners share the goal of staying in and improving the relationship, counseling therapy can help bring a greater degree of understanding and commitment between the partners, which renders an overall sense of fulfillment for each partner.

I support couples at various stages of their relationship to develop the partners’ abilities to express their on-going needs, feelings, and expectations. We also explore intergenerational effects from respective partner’s family of origin, enhance movement towards shared goals, and fortify existing marital connection.

I work with couples in the following areas:

  • pre-marriage preparations

  • communication

  • forgiveness

  • boundaries

  • changes in couplehood (i.e. birth of first child)

  • infidelity

  • separation & divorce

  • cross-cultural relationships

  • intimacy

  • divergent financial perspectives

  • second marriage
